Surface Qualities and Applications

High-Quality Profiles Compliant with International Standards

Our company offers high-quality profiles that comply with international standards in the iron and steel industry. Surface qualities for bulb flats (for shipbuilding and offshore platforms), equal-leg and unequal-leg angle bars, HEA/HEB profiles, and W-beam profiles are provided in accordance with European standards such as EN 10163. Special quality grades such as Grade A, AH36, and S355MLO are used for bulb flats. The table below summarizes the surface quality options and EN 10163 classifications for our products.

Surface Quality Table
Profile Type Surface Quality Class EN 10163 Class Description Standards Areas of Use
Bulb Flats Grade A AH36 S355MLO Class B/C Sandblasted (SA2.5) or acid-cleaned, smooth surface, high corrosion resistance. EN 10067, EN 10163-3 Shipbuilding, offshore platforms
HEA/HEB Profiles S235/S275/S355 Class A/B Sandblasted (SA2.5) or acid-cleaned, smooth surface. Corrosion resistance can be increased. EN 10025-2, EN 10163-3 Structural steel constructions, bridges
Equal Angle Corner Bracket Hot Rolled (HR) Class A Standard surface, slightly rough, blasting optional (SA2). EN 10056, EN 10163-3 General structure, frame, and support systems
Unequal Angle Corner Bracket Acid-cleaned Class B Clean, smooth surface provides additional protection against corrosion. EN 10056, EN 10163-3 Decorative applications, delicate structures
W Beams (I Profiles) Galvanized Coating Class C High corrosion resistance with zinc coating, ideal for outdoor use. ASTM A123, EN ISO 1461, EN 10163-3 Outdoor structures, heavy load carriers

Painted Surface Class B/C Special paint coating for aesthetics and corrosion protection. Color options available. According to Customer Demand, EN 10163-3 Special projects, aesthetic-focused applications

Additional Information

Bulb Flats: These profiles, used in shipbuilding and offshore platforms, are available in Grade A (basic shipbuilding), AH36 (high-strength steel), and S355MLO (thermomechanically rolled for offshore use) grades. Surface quality is typically Class B or C, with sandblasting (SA2.5) or coating providing high corrosion resistance (in accordance with EN 10067 standards).

EN 10163 Classes:

  • Class A: Basic surface quality, minor defects are acceptable.
  • Class B: Tighter surface control, smooth surface after sandblasting or acid cleaning.
  • Class C: Highest surface quality, for coated or decorative applications.

Surface Quality Selection: The appropriate class should be selected according to the usage environment (sea water, chemical exposure) and aesthetic requirements.

Customization: Please contact us for special blasting (e.g. SA2.5), coating, or color requests.

Standards: All surface treatments comply with EN 10163-3 (for profiles) and other relevant standards.
